Paula Childers Obtains License

Paula Childers, our newest employee, has recently obtained her North Carolina Property & Casualty insurance license.  To obtain this license, she had to attend a 40 hour class and successfully pass the state mandated test.

Working as the receptionist in our Tryon office, Paula has been with us since early September.  A Polk County native, she went to Landrum High School and graduated from Limestone College in 1992 with a BS in Business Administration.

We are very proud of Paula and encourage her ongoing education!

Jessica Holmes Receives Her CISR Designation

Jessica Holmes, commercial lines account manager in our Tryon office, has recently completed her fifth and final course to obtain her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation.  Achieving this designation is no easy task; it consists of five one-day courses that each end with an examination.

The CISR Program empowers outstanding individuals to provide exceptional customer service and Main Street Financial Group encourages employees to further their education by attending programs such as this one.

Congratulations Jessica on achieving your goal!!

Area business supports a national cause

During the month of October, employees of Main Street Financial Group will be wearing jeans as they join the fight against breast cancer for the third consecutive year.

Employees will participate in Lee National Denim Day, one of the nation’s largest single-day fundraisers for breast cancer, being held on October 3, 2008.  Lee Jeans has encouraged companies to go casual for the cause by inviting employees to wear their jeans to work on Denim Day in exchange for a $5 contribution to fight against breast cancer.

However, Main Street Financial Group has decided to take it up a notch.  To show continued support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, staff members are donating $5 for each Friday in October to the Lee National Denim Day fund.  This event has become a tradition that employees have come to love and anticipate each year.

Since its inception in 1996, Lee National Denim Day has adhered to a simple philosophy: one day, one cause, one cure®.  For more information, please visit www.denimday.com.

Celebrating 80 Years

Main Street Financial Group has now been serving Western North Carolina for 80 Years!!  How does anyone stay in business for over 80 years?  It’s simple, really.  It starts with a work ethic handed down through three generations of owners.  No oak-paneled offices—just five partners dedicated to doing their very best for their clients and each other.  It extends to a friendly, professional staff that treats clients—and one another—like family.  Most important, it is a passionate focus on the client.  We understand what frustrates you, and we constantly strive to remove the obstacles between you and financial well-being.

Local Agency Shows Community Support

Main Street Financial Group sponsors local project, purchases school supplies

FOREST CITY, N.C. (August 6, 2008)During this time of unsteadiness in the economy, many people are finding it more difficult to provide basic needs for their families.  In an effort to combat this trend, many organizations are developing programs to provide assistance.

Main Street Financial Group, an insurance and financial advisory agency based in Forest City, N.C. and Tryon, N.C., recently joined forces with the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission and participated in their ‘Grandparents Raising Grandchildren’ program by purchasing eight backpacks filled with much needed school supplies.  This is the second year that Main Street Financial Group has assisted with the program, raising their contribution from two backpacks filled with supplies in 2007 to eight filled backpacks this year.

Employees of the agency enjoyed an evening of shopping earlier in the week to purchase backpacks and requested supplies.
